COVID-19 시대의 Preprint 오픈 리뷰 플랫폼 소개

최근에 COVID-19에 대한 연구 논문들이 빠르게 공유되고 있다. 전례 없이 preprint가 급증하고 있는 것에 발맞추어, Nature는 Wellcome 재단의 후원으로 ‘Outbreak Science Rapid PREreview (https://outbreaksci.prereview.org/)’를 런칭했다. Preprint를 빠르게 리뷰할 수 있는 오픈소스 플랫폼이다.

이 플랫폼에 있는 리뷰는 아래에 제시된 질문들에 대한 ‘예/아니오’의 짧은 답으로 구성되며, 연구의 중요성과 품질을 체계적으로 판단하기 위해 고안되었다. 플랫폼에서는 여러 사람이 리뷰한 내용을 함께 집계해서 보여준다. 대상 논문은 medRxiv, bioRxiv, arXiv 리포지터리로 제한돼 있으나, ORCID ID가 있는 연구자는 가입 절차 없이 Outbreak Science에 바로 로그인할 수 있다. 또한 누구나 업로드된 preprint를 리뷰할 수 있고, 익명으로도 제출할 수 있다.

COVID-19는 너무나 빠른 속도로 확산되고 있으며, 누구에게든 발생할 수 있다. 이처럼 바이러스에 의한 대유행 감염이발생한 비상 사태에서, 이에 대한 연구도 빠르고 개방적이어야 한다. 언론, 학술지 및 공중보건 당국자들뿐만 아니라 연구자 자신들이 지금 가장 중요한 COVID-19에 대한 preprint를 즉각적으로 공유하는 데에 이 플랫폼이 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
